Mega evolution

46 species (48 forms — Charizard and Mewtwo each carry a Mega X and a Mega Y) mega-evolve automatically when they’re the parent walker in a battle (see Subagent battles): no picker entry, no manual toggle, no work-based threshold — being in the mega-forms table is the only trigger. It’s the complete classic, pre-Legends Z-A official set; the roughly two dozen Mega Evolutions Pokémon Legends: Z-A added (Dragonite, Victreebel, Clefable, and the rest) aren’t in yet. A species with two forms picks X or Y deterministically, hashed off the battle itself, so the same battle always shows the same form and different battles alternate over time — never a random re-roll mid-fight.

The ceremony plays out in stages — orbs and a dim-down into silhouette, an energy ring with twin flame plumes, a vortex pull-in, a flash at the hot core, then the reveal — holding the battle’s current wave for its roughly 3.6-second runtime, with a floating “Mega Evolved!” once it lands. The form reverts the instant the battle’s forced stance releases.
